The prioritisation of a new sports centre for Höfn in the central area.
Establishing facilities for sports activities in Suðursveit and Öræfi alongside the maintenance of Mánavöllur.
Improved municipal collaboration with local youth organisations and sports clubs.

The creation of a plan for the future of Grunnskóli Hornafjarðar and its housing.
A long-term development plan for the Sjónarhóll preschool and the continuation of its currently planned extension.
Ensuring public access to the various outdoor recreation areas and playgrounds, with consideration to social diversity.

Promoting outdoor youth activities across the entire municipality.
Establishing facilities for kayaking f.e. boat shelters.
The reorganisation of the municipality’s involvement in children’s sports and outdoor activities with the goal of ensuring the opportunity for every child to participate in diverse sports and outdoor activities, regardless of their parents’ financial status.

Kex will campaign for
A major increase in the flow of information towards foreign language speakers and residents.
A general increase in the flow of information and public participation. This can be achieved with an accessible website, regular surveying, public meetings, the immediate introduction of projects, more accessible minutes, etc.
Employing a Human Resource Manager for the municipality with a local office.

Performing a requirements analysis for municipal staff’s jobs to ensure a fair workload.
A register of interests for elected officials that is public and accessible.
Administrative collaboration with residents, e.g., multicultural council, youth council, senior citizens’ council etc.
The integration of equality and environmentalism in all decision-making.

A sensible treatment of public finances, especially in the early stages of projects.
Ensuring resident meetings at least twice a year for consultation and information.
The creation of an electronic platform for consultation, e.g., a resident portal on the municipality’s website.
The mayor will be hired in a professional process, whether through a formal recruitment process or appointed in accordance with pre-determined qualifications regarding education, skills and experience.

Accelerate the process that has already begun in the new nursing home so that construction can begin as soon as possible and planning can begin for the next expansion.

Reinforcing the senior citizens’ council to ensure a more active connection between senior citizens and administration.

All municipal decision-making to consider environmental and climate issues.
The participation of municipal institutions in environmental projects like The Green Steps Program (Græn Skref).
Revising the environment and planning committee to ensure a focused coverage of issues.
The facilitation of responsible recycling for residents and businesses.
The construction of diverse residential housing, including sufficient plot supply. The results of the resident meeting on September 15th, 2021, will be used as a basis.

Support and education for individuals, companies, and institutions to improve environmental awareness and promote greener lifestyles and operations.
The prioritisation of environmentally friendly modes of transportation in all planning.
Developing green spaces around the municipality with diverse utilisation options in mind. Accessibility to such spaces must be improved, e.g., by creating an outdoor recreation map.
A long-term vision for the municipality’s planning that is comprehensive and diverse.
Further improvements on municipal pathways for walking, bicycling, and horse-riding.

Ensuring a conversation with the public regarding the future planning of highways. Kex will press for road improvements to cut distances and improve traffic safety.
Increased resident involvement in planning and decision-making as well as increased access to information regarding construction projects, both planned and ongoing. Resident consultation must happen in the preliminary stages of projects.

That the Cultural Centre of Hornafjörður becomes a leader in the diverse cultural activities in the municipality.
Special attention be paid to events for children and residents of foreign origin.
The capability of Sindrabær to perform its functions as a music hall and school.

The housing requirements of different cultural activities within the municipality being met.
Utilising rural assembly houses for diverse cultural events.
The capability of Mánagarður to perform its functions as the municipality’s centre for culture and performing arts.

Gamlabúð recieves an appropriate role when Vatnajökull National Park moves from there.
New ways are sought to present the history and cultural heritage of the municipality, whether through new museums, exhibitions, or other.
Establish grounds for a new and improved glacier exhibition so it can be reopened.
